Scott Foyster

Research Technician

Biography

Scott has been a Research Technician at the Fire Centre for the past four years. In that time, he has worked across a range of projects including, forest fuel assessments, post-fire vegetation recovery surveys, fire-soil interactions, grape taint, plant flammability and low fire risk garden design.

Scott is currently the senior technician in the FireLab3 working across the plant flammability projects and various smoke exposure studies. He is heavily involved in the collection and testing of the assessing the flammability of both native and ornamental garden plants as well as the commissioning of Venn Exposure Lab equipment and facilitating research in this space. 

Scott has a Bachelor of Science with Honours having completed his Honours on the role that soil nutrients play in the post-fire recovery of a south-western Tasmanian buttongrass-forest mosaic. You can find him most days in FireLab3 burning various plant samples to determine their flammability or testing various machines.
