PHD candidate
Will is a PhD student at the University of Tasmania in the School of Natural Sciences. His primary interests are in landscape restoration and habitat management, where his work aims to increase ecosystem function, and resilience to the dual climate and biodiversity crises. These challenges drive Will’s work and his motivation to inform conservation strategies through science and a deeper understanding of the natural world.
Currently Will is working on his PhD project, researching how different management treatments affect bushfire risk and wildlife. In collaboration with the City of Hobart Fire and Biodiversity team, he is investigating the effect of fuel-reduction interventions on fire behaviour and biodiversity across multiple vegetation communities. This research aims to guide landscape management that supports both risk reduction and wildlife conservation, contributing to improved practices for landowners and land managers.
