I am a postdoctoral research fellow at UTAS. I specialise in developing image processing routines, especially for imagery collected by Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). I also work on projects that look at using UAVs as environmental remote sensing tools, such that data collected by UAVs can be related to real-world properties, in particular around vegetation health and terrain change. In terms of Fire research I ran a pilot study into mapping the damage to Sphagnum mires in the Lake Mackenzie area after the 2016 fires. I am now part of the team running rehabilitation trials in the area, my role being to map and monitor changes to the health of targeted Sphagnum mires through the life of the project.
I have 25 years of aero-modelling experience,a Private Pilots License and a Remote Pilots License (drone license). I am the Chief Controller for the Terraluma research team, see: www.terraluma.net. For academic record please see google scholar.
